I’ve made some pretty extreme New Year’s resolutions regarding food in the past. To be honest, most were done out of a genuine love of challenging myself and not for weight loss purposes (yes I’m weird like that). For instance, one year I went an entire year without eating sweets! (Thankfully, cereal and chocolate chip filled granola bars were not included by my standards!)
What?! Who does that?!
Nowadays, however, you won’t find me promoting any kind of diet or detox plan when the New Year rolls around. I don’t really believe in dieting and think that all kinds of foods can be a part of a healthy, balanced diet. When people restrict certain foods, that often leads to constantly thinking about that food and binging later. If we just saw food as food and ate what sounded good at the time, food wouldn’t have as much control over our thoughts and actions. That sounds so freeing and wonderful to me!
Thankfully this post shows me that I’m practicing what I preach. It’s the first week in January and my meals and snacks ranged from veggie heavy to carb laden to sugar coated.
