Sweetened with pure maple syrup and topped with an oaty, nut topping, this Healthy & Easy Apple Crisp is a great way to enjoy a warming, fall dessert without the guilt!
Start by preheating your oven to 350 °F and set aside an 8x8 baking dish.
Place all of your peeled and chopped apples into a large sauce pan over medium-low heat. Add in the maple syrup and cinnamon and stir to combine. Cook the apples for about 10 minutes or until softened.
While the apples are cooking, prepare the crumble topping by mixing together in a large bowl the oats, ground nuts and cinnamon. Pour over the maple syrup and coconut oil and mix until combined.
Once the apples have softened, pour them into your baking dish and top them with the crumb mixture.
Place the baking dish into your oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the top turns golden brown.
Serve warm with dairy-free ice cream or coconut whipped cream!
Notes
One thing you may need to verify when dealing with severe gluten allergies is that your oats are certified gluten-free (the ones I use and recommend are Bob's Red Mill gluten free oats). This is usually specified on the packaging!
