Grease a loaf pan and preheat the oven to 350. °F
Place the pitted dates and hot water into a food processor and process until a paste forms. Scrape down the sides of the food processor bowl as needed.
Add the remaining ingredients, except for the chocolate chips, and process until a smooth batter forms. Stir in the chocolate chips if using.
Pour the batter into your greased loaf pan and bake the brownies for 18-22 minutes or until the top is set.
Allow the brownies to cool completely before trying to cut and enjoy the brownies.
- Use fresh dates if possible so that they blend easily into a paste.
- Be sure to use a more neutral flavored nut butter if you want a more traditional brownie flavor.
