    Babymoon: Prague, Czech Republic

Jun 2, 2022 by Faith VanderMolen

Today I'm sharing with you all some highlights from our second stop on our babymoon: Prague! This was definitely one of our top 3 favorite cities of all the cities we went to in Central Europe and I'm excited to share with you some of the sites we enjoyed and of course, delicious food we ate. We were in Prague a total of 4 nights and 3 full days and it was the longest we stayed in one location during our babymoon.

Because our hotel room had a fridge, and because I had eaten out for almost every meal in Berlin, I did eat quite a few simple meals in our hotel room. We're talking lots of chickpea and veggie sandwiches, pb and banana toast, and soy yogurt with all the berries. It was nice to have the option to eat in if we wanted.

    Naplavka Farmer's Market

The highlight of Prague for me was the Saturday morning farmer's market. We found out about it Friday night and I knew immediately that I wanted to check it out. I'm so glad we did! It was such a fun, lively atmosphere and the market was located right along the water which provided the perfect view to sit and relax or enjoy some treats. The morning started semi-cloudy and crisp, but the sun was bright and shining by the time we finished eating our way through the market. They had food for everyone, even vegans. There was tons of produce, flowers, homemade jams and lemonades, baked goods, czech specialties, etc. Both Brett and I enjoyed a coffee and some baked goods. Then Brett couldn't help but try out some of the savory, Czech food like meat and potatoes, ravioli, etc. We also bought some delicious, salty nuts that came in handy for snacks through the week.

After having lots of yummy treats at the farmer's market, I was able to go on a long run along the river. I wasn't planning to run as far as I did, but the weather was perfect and I felt great. I was able to find a bike path half way through my run that made for great running terrain too!

    Moment Cafe

One of the few fully vegan restaurants in Prague was Moment Cafe. I was craving healthy food at this point in our trip and everything on the menu sounded delicious and nutritious. There was plenty of seating and the servers were really friendly and helpful. Brett and I ordered the hummus platter to share which came with a massive amount of hummus, some olive, pickles and perfectly toasted bread. Sadly, the bread to hummus ratio was a little off, but we just ordered extra bread to make up for it.

For the main course I got the lentil arugula salad and it was so light and flavorful. I felt so good after eating it! Brett ordered the portobello burger which also had amazing flavor, despite how simple it looked. The portions here aren't massive and Brett's burger didn't come with any sides, but I believe you can order side dishes to add to your entree.

They also had a very impressive dessert case with lots of decadent, layered cakes and other baked goods. Moment Cafe was definitely a winner in my book!

    Vegan Gelato

The first gelato shop we walked into had a sign with vegan gelato options. I'm not sure what the shop was called, but considering it was that easy to find dairy-free options on our first try, I'm sure there are many other dairy-free gelato options around the city. I've never been a fruity ice cream person (although pregnancy has changed that a bit), so I was thrilled to see they were serving quite a few non-fruity options. I got a small portion of both the peanut butter and caramel and they were so delicious and rich! I couldn't even finish the small portion.

    Incruenti

As soon as I saw Incruenti's menu, I knew I wanted to eat there. They had vegan Italian options such as lasagna and ravioli, which aren't always easy to find. They had quite a few pasta options, but also served wraps, burgers, salads, soups and dessert. Brett and I started with a salad which came with vegan feta and a rich balsamic dressing. It was absolutely delicious. For our main course we split the vegan lasagna and ravioli with basil sauce. The portions sizes were pretty underwhelming, but we still ended up leaving full and very satisfied. The quality of the food definitely made up for the smaller amounts. I also loved that they had lots of outdoor seating so we could enjoy the beautiful weather.

    Golden Tikka

I don't have photos of this restaurant, but it was the best Indian food Brett or I have ever eaten so I knew I needed to tell you about it! The restaurant is called Golden Tikka and it's located on a quiet street, which made it semi-hard to find. I ordered the Chana Masala, rice and roti and it was so rich and flavorful! If you enjoy Indian food, we highly recommend this restaurant!

In addition to these delicious restaurants, there were also so many fun cafes to stop in for a drink and to rest our legs. One day we ended up in a beautiful hotel with an outdoor patio. I got some black tea to enjoy and Brett ordered their famous beer which recipe dates back to 1352!

Those were some of the foodie highlights of our time in Prague. We were blessed with amazing weather the entire time we were there and I loved how walkable the city was. I'd love to know if any of you have traveled to Prague and what your experience was like!

Our family is going to Prague next month! I wonder if the farmer's market will still be open when we go. And that Moment Cafe looks AMAZING; also that vegan gelato sounds and looks delicious.
