I have a produce buddy!
At least for a few days.
Not long after Brett and I landed in America he said to me, "I want to eat like you this week." And I wasn't surprised actually! All the different cuisines we ate during our Europe and Morocco trip--and the lack of raw veggies-- took a toll on both of us. We're both feeling pretty soft and sluggish and are excited to get back into our normal routine of eating and working out. While I wish we were feeling normal, I gotta say, it's been so fun to prepare "faith" meals for Brett to eat along with me. The past few days I've seen my husband eat more salad and drink more whole food smoothies than I have in quite some time. Woot! He's even been reaching for fruit as a snack instead of his beloved cookies.
The day we got home we both went to the grocery store after attempting to workout for the first time in three weeks. I had a list of things to get, since we would only be home for a couple days before leaving again, but Brett was grabbing all kinds of produce and placing it in our basket. I reminded him we didn't need much and he confidently said, "Oh, I'll eat it."
One of the items he grabbed was half of a papaya. I used to loathe papaya and would always pray that I wouldn't get offered it when overseas. Thankfully, after a few more years and tastes, I've grown to love it. Sometimes you can pick a bad one that isn't very good, but usually they are so sweet and have a perfectly, creamy texture, like the one Brett pick out at the store the other day.
Since we are both on a smoothie kick, I decided to branch out at try a new smoothie flavor using the papaya and ended up making this Papaya Date Smoothie. It turned out amazing so I thought I'd share it with you all! The frozen bananas and papaya give this smoothie a creamy texture and the dates add some sweet, gooey chunks.
I hope you enjoy this sweet, summer Papaya Date Smoothie as much as Brett and I did!

I'm currently living in Ivory Coast and I'm trying to take advantage of the wonderful tropical fruits that are available all year long here ... that smoothie was just the perfect blend for a hot January (!!) afternoon )) I've added some fresh lime juice to compensate for the sweetness of the dates. Thanks for the blog !!

That's awesome to hear Greg! And lime juice sounds like an amazing addition. Thanks for sharing!

I love dates AND papayas and eat fresh papaya almost daily, but I also keep some frozen on hand for simple smoothies. Having just a bought a large container of dates, I decided I should try them as a sweetener in a smoothie and thought papaya would be a good pairing. So thankful I found your blog while searching for a recipe. I happened to cut up and freeze some ripe bananas yesterday. 🙂
After a strict 21 day cleanse that included no dairy, I have become a big fan of flax milk and used that today, as well as my DoTerra vanilla Trim Shake. Honestey, I think this was the best smoothie I've ever had. Thanks for the doing the research well before my cravings!

I had a papaya and date smoothie for the first time in Kauai last month while on vacation. It was amazing and now I'm hooked! I came home and googled for a recipe and found your website. I tried it this morning, and it tastes exactly like the one I purchased at the fruit stand. This one is definitely a keeper! Thanks, Faith. 🙂
