I am officially in the 3rd Trimester and I'm still amazed at how fast time is flying...and how normal I still feel. Today I'm sharing a recap of weeks 25-28 of my pregnancy. This month was actually really busy with travel, but not too much happened pregnancy-wise. I still feel mostly normal and plan to soak up this easier season while it lasts!
Let's dive into some more details!
Size of the Baby:
Baby girl is about the size of a large eggplant. According to my BabyCenter App, she weighs about 2 ½ pounds and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels.
We plan to have our 1st appointment at the birthing center here in Nashville in the near future and another ultrasound sometime after that. I'm excited to see how she's doing and measuring!
Bump Update:
Some days I feel so large, but I know that my stomach still really isn't that big. There is definitely no hiding that I'm pregnant anymore and it's fun to wear tighter clothing and show off my bump. Most people, however, are shocked when I say I'm 7 months pregnant. I find it fascinating how different every pregnant woman's body is and how we all change in different ways. Part of me wishes there was a cut and dry answer to how our bodies should change during pregnancy, because that would give me more peace of mind during such a new season of life. Sometimes I wonder if I'm eating enough...too much...exercising enough...to much...Thankfully now we can have ultrasounds and see that our babies are growing and developing as they should be!
Food Cravings and Aversions:
I'm still back to eating the foods I enjoyed pre-pregnancy, but every week does seem to have a theme. Or maybe it's because I make so much food at one time and then am forced to eat leftovers. Either way, my meals usually contain some source of veggies, whole grains and protein. And chocolate is definitely a staple in my diet again too! This past month I really enjoyed the following foods:
- Baked Sweet Potatoes
- Tamari Baked Tofu
- Sauteed Greens
- 2 Ingredient Blender Pancakes
- Whole Wheat Pizza with Vegan Mozzarella
- Caesar Salad
- Chocolate Muffins
- Hot Chocolate
Symptoms:
Overall I really feel great. I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I've napped since leaving the 1st trimester. Other than some random symptoms which I talk about below, I basically feel the same--full of energy and ready to take on each day. I now just have a growing belly and a little girl inside of me moving around!
- Kicking! This girl is gonna be active like her mama I think, because she has these crazy episodes of kicking and punching me. Thankfully nothing hurts yet, but she's getting quite forceful. Sadly, she never seems to want to play when Brett is nearby, so he's yet to feel her more powerful punches.
- Nausea. A couple of times during week 27 I had random episodes of nausea in the afternoons. It hits me quick and I feel shaky and nauseous. Usually if I sit and eat some food it goes away. I'm guessing it's just baby girl saying she needs some more fuel!
Exercise:
I still feel so good and exercise is something I crave most days. This past month was pretty crazy with traveling to Thailand for 10 days and then making the 1 week journey from China to Nashville. Thankfully, throughout our travels I've been able find ways to stay active, but it hasn't been to the extent that it usually is when I'm at home. Some days I only managed to go on a walk or walk up stairwells with Brett. Other days I would do dumbbell-free workouts in our hotel room. I even started running again (at a slow pace for short distances) and it feels so so good! Because we are now living in a neighborhood, I can run short loops and stop at the house for bathroom breaks if necessary.
We just arrived in Nashville a few days ago and I am now reunited with some dumbbells, a stability ball and exercise bands. Bring on the movement!
Again, thanks so much for those of you who are interested and read these pregnancy updates.

It feels so weird to say this as a non-mum but I really like hearing about your [and a few other bloggers] pregnancy journey. Especially because it's so unique for each of you. Just like your stomach :). If I didn't know, I'd have never ever guessed you were at 28 weeks in that picture already. Though I think it has to do both with your natural composition and the fact you're very active. Because there's one other lady I remember having a bump like this even until pretty much the end of her pregnancy. I hope talking about bumps this much is okay. It's not meant in a judgmental but merely curious way.

You can talk about my bump all you want, considering I’m posting it on the internet for the world to see! And it really is amazing how different each pregnant woman is and how our babies all turn out okay!

It is AMAZING how much you pop really toward the end of the third trimester. First trimester I put on 6-7 lbs but "all over". Second trimester, another 10 lbs more in the midsection, but overall I just looked softer. Third trimester I gained like a pound a week, and suddenly around 30-32 weeks I had a basketball in front of me!

I've been kind of excited to see how big my stomach gets in the 3rd trimester haha! But I hear it's just like you said, especially since that's when the baby grows the most. So fun to hear your experience Alyssa!
